George Asiimwe holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management from Makerere University and a master’s degree in Urban Development from Addis Ababa University & the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He holds over 09 years of specialized experience on green growth & city development work in Africa. He has been involved in the development of the African Union’s Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), Uganda’s National Urban Policy, the Uganda Green Growth Development Strategy (UGGDS), the National Urban Solid Waste Management Policy & continues to support Government of Uganda to mainstream green growth in its policies. He currently oversees GGGI’s Green City portfolio which promotes Waste to Resource & Circular Economy approaches in solid waste management; climate resilient green buildings codes & standards; city wide planning; development of green/eco-industrial parks as well as green investment flows. He is also supporting the greening of Uganda’s third National Development Plan (NDP III).
