Hon Mwebesa is a Ugandan business entrepreneur and Industrialist with over 40 years’ experience in the steel industry as proprietor. He has set other manufacturing enterprises in timber treatment, wire products, farming, iron ore mining and processing.
He Holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Nairobi University. Upon finishing studies in Nairobi (1970), he worked with Dunlop East Africa, later joined East African Steel Corporation as General Manager until 1980 when he left to start his current Group of Companies.
He has Served on various Boards notably the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority. He was a Member of the Board and steering group that formed Centenary Bank in Uganda one of the Leading Indigenous National Banks.
He was a member of the Constituent Assembly, which promulgated the Constitution of Uganda of 1995.
Hon. Mwebesa has served as Senior Presidential Advisor and was appointed Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives since 2021.
