Mr Joost van Ettro studied International Law and joined the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in October 2003, to start his career as a policy officer at the Movement of Persons, Migration and Alien Affairs Department in The Hague. Later he joined the Political Affairs Department, working on countering the financing of terrorism. Before joining the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kampala as Deputy Head of Mission in 2021, he worked at the Ministry in different roles at the North Africa and Middle East Department. Over the years he worked at Embassies in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Zambia and Ramallah.
Joost van Ettro is married to Pauline van Wijk, and father of four daughters.
