Stephen is the one of the Ugandan and East Africa’s leading CEOs with 35 years of experience.
In December 2021, he was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the Private Sector Foundation of the 330-member/association’s Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU). Under his leadership of business development at Uganda’s apex private sector body, Stephen is responsible for policy direction of 13 sectors that comprises business associations, corporate bodies and major public, non-government sector agencies that support trade and investment growth.
Stephen’s last post before joining the PSFU was at the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) where he was Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Board Secretary and Accounting Officer from 2014-2019.
Stephen’s career spans a cross section of other disciplines and careers. He is also the past CEO and Editor in Chief of the East African Procurement News (2003 – 2005) and the East African Business Week (2005 – 2014), these are regional media powerhouses with operations in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Burundi.
For his role and experience in media and development media promotion, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters of the United Graduate College and Seminary (Tennessee, USA), in December 2008.
Corporate Governance:
- He is a Board Member of Nile Hotel Limited, a subsidiary of Uganda Development Corporation (UDC).
- He is a Board Member of the East African Tourism Platform, an apex body of all of East Africa’s tourism private sector associations. He represents Uganda in the six-member state group.
- He is a board member of the Uganda Energy Credit Capitalisation Company ( UECCC).
- Stephen is also a past Board Member of the National Council of Sports (NCS).
