Ambassador - European Union Delegation to the Republic of Uganda
Ambassador Jan Sadek is the Head of the EU Delegation to Uganda. He is a Swedish career diplomat; his first posts abroad include Prague (Czech Republic), Moscow (Russia) and Minsk (Belarus).
After three years as Head of the Consular Section at the MFA in Stockholm, in the aftermath of the Tsunami, he was in 2008 appointed Ambassador of Sweden to Sudan – liking it so much that he stayed for five years. During that time, he was furthermore accredited to the Republic of South Sudan as of 2011.
From 2013 to 2017, Ambassador Sadek was the Swedish Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union in Addis Ababa, with an accreditation also to Djibouti and to IGAD.
After his return to Stockholm, he took a year of paternity leave with his two youngest children.
In 2018, he was appointed Ambassador of the European Union to Botswana and to the regional economic community SADC (Southern African Development Community).
By training, Ambassador Sadek has a degree in medicine. He also served as a UN Officer during the war in Bosnia-Hercegovina and as a member of the OSCE Mission to Sarajevo, in 1994-1995.
He speaks Swedish, English, Russian, French, Czech and some Bosnian.
Ambassador Sadek is married to a Swedish diplomat, and they have three children.

Jeanette Scherpenzeel is Lead Program Manager for Sustainable Tourism Development at CBI, the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries. Under the mandate of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, CBI strengthens Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to connect to European markets with a sustainable product offer aligned to European demand. In the past 8 years, Jeanette learned her way around the tourism sector. She designed and implemented sustainable tourism projects in Uganda, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia. Jeanette believes in development by developing sustainable business. Which is what she finds in CBI: support tour operators and tourism organizations to generate income and employment. Based at CBI Head Quarters in the Hague, her current focus is the CBI project to scale-up sustainable tourism in Uganda. In parallel, she is engaged in an export promotion project for dried mango from West-African countries to EU markets.
Jeanette is a trained economist with a specialization in International Economic Theory. She worked as a diplomat for the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and advisor to the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. She started her career as renewable energy consultant for the World Bank.

network operators – MTN Uganda and Uganda Telecom.
He has publications in international conferences/journals with his research interests
being in the engineering of evolving telecommunication systems, currently focusing
on device-to-device (D2D) communication, internet of things (IoT) and smart networking. He is enthusiastic about applying/adapting the various innovations and/or information & communication technologies (ICT) to the dynamic needs and challenges of society

He is a musician, song writer, producer and an accomplished business man. His music career has been going on for 33 years. He has performed on the same stage with world class artists like Shaggy and others. In his long music career he has produced some hit songs that headlined music concerts and parties in Uganda and abroad. He has mentored almost all the top artists that Uganda has produced throughout the 1990s and 2000s including creating opportunities for music collaborations and exchanges with artists from other countries. He is currently the Chairman of the National Culture Forum- an umbrella body for national associations from all 9 domains of the culture and creative industries in Uganda. He represents the creative industry on the Board of PSFU. He is the Chairman of Board of the Uganda Federation of Movie Industry (UFMI)

Edward possesses an MSc. Engineering from the Institute of Infrastructure Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering, Delft, The Netherlands and a BSc. Eng. (Civil) (Hons) from Makerere University, Kampala - Uganda coupled with 24 years’ work experience majorly as a consultant in the fields of project management, project planning, design, tender preparation and administration and contract management of various infrastructure projects in transportation, roads and highways, buildings, transmission line and substations and hydropower development. This is coupled with 6years in the public sector with the Uganda National Roads Authority. Edward is a PRINCE2TM Practitioner.

Jeannetta is an energy, public-private partnership (PPP) and legal consultant. She has over nine years of experience in advising private developers, lenders, donors and governments on large-scale infrastructure transactions across various sectors and jurisdictions. Jeannetta has worked as a transaction advisor and assisted projects and developers across East and Central Africa. She also served as the Lead Transactions Advisor for the PPP unit of the Rwandan Government. In her legal career, Jeannetta spent time as a project finance associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP representing banks, sponsors, and institutional investors in cross-border transactions, as well as within the legal departments of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and the UN. Jeannetta holds a Juris Doctorate from Boston University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Wake Forest University in Political Science and Japanese.

Patrick has vast experience in radio and TV production, and he has worked as a radio journalist and producer for more than 15 years. Before joining Wizarts Foundation as a production Manager, Patrick worked with: NTV as a news producer, he handled the prime time news bulletin NTV Tonight. He also worked as a talk show host; Daily Monitor as a reporter; and Voice of Toro as a news editor and station manager
He extensively reported on the conflicts in the region often staying at the battlefront in South Sudan, the DRC and Somalia. He was among the group of selected African journalists that were invited by the US state department to cover the 2008 election
He is an award-winning journalist having scooped the COMESA media Award in 2009 and the Uganda radio Journalist of the year award in 2004. Patrick Has B.A in Mass Communication, a Diploma in radio and TV Production
He is also an Edward Murrow Fellow.
Patrick was recently appointed minister for ICT in Tooro Kingdom.

Katrin Winter is the Head of strategy for East Africa at the Estonian Centre for International Development. She initiates and leads interventions with a strong digital development and inclusion focus in education, employment and governance across East and Southern Africa. Her strong academic background in Sino-Africa relations focusing on resource management and governance ties in with her extensive work experience in development from Bangladesh to Zimbabwe. Mrs Winter has previously managed programmes for policy change and development with the British Council, Let’s Do It! Movement and a number of NGOs.
In her current role, she is passionate about identifying and implementing shared objectives for Africa and Europe, and extending the existing narratives on Africa in Estonia. Mrs Winter is driven by cooperation opportunities to create synergies between countries, people and organisations towards a more inclusive global society.
